About Brüggen
Brüggen School is located in north west Germany, on the border with the Netherlands, and between the German city of Düsseldorf (left) and the Dutch town of Roermond (below).
Whereas Düsseldorf is a transport hub, surrounded by heavy industry, Roermond is a relatively tranquil spot with many designer shops. Both places reside on the banks of major European rivers, the Rhine and the Maas respectively.
Nearby, is the picturesque German village of Brüggen (below left), from where the school takes its name. Brüggen has a small schloss (or castle) and you can see the outline of the schloss and its gates in our school logo.
Our school rests securely within the borders of Javelin Barracks at Elmpt Station. The Station is surrounded by many trees and lakes, typical of this part of Europe.
The Station has good facilities for young children, including an outdoor swimming pool; the Scouts and Guides; play grounds and a Youth Club with a skate park.
Javelin Barracks was formely RAF Station Brüggen. The airfield and its buildings are still major geographic features. These days, soldiers from the Royal Corps of Signals train and exercise around the former runways and hangars.
Brüggen School provides an interesting, pleasant and happy environment for children to learn. Nearby, you will find fascinating Dutch and German places to visit at the weekends, such as Maastrict, Cologne and Venlo.
